Affirmations For Repurposing Anger as Taught by Audre Lorde, a Seed of Oya

My anger is a clarifying agent. Clearing out the muck and illuminating desires, yearnings, and dreams for something more than what is being presented, more than what is being offered.

My anger is a clarifying agent. Highlighting what is no longer useful, what no longer serves my higher purpose, what is no longer in alignment.

My anger is a clarifying agent. Urging me to move and redirect this vessel in another direction. Urging me to say what needs to be said. To feel the shame and speak anyway. To feel the fear and speak anyway. To feel the guilt and speak anyway.

My anger is a form changing elixir. Transforming silence into words, notes, and language. Transforming fear into action, movement, art. Transforming self-doubt & self-negation into greater self-awareness and compassion for the whole self.

My anger is an intuitive intelligence. Drawing upon the dark matter of my ancestors imaginations, whispering intimate reminders to always name, set, and readjust boundaries. To honor the wisdoms coming from within. To trust that tight shoulders, sharp heart pains, mind fog, and persistent self-doubt often means it is time to set course on a nuuu path, on a nuuu road.

My anger is light, beaming and unyielding. Illuminating years of broken promises to self. Illuminating buried tales that no longer fit, that no longer inspire.

My anger is the winds of Oya. Twirling and spinning, clearing the space, removing the clutter so that I can see, feel, and live in the possibility of change, not sameness. So that I can see, feel, and live, for a moment, without the chains of capitalism and the ever profiting off Black bodies.

My anger is the machete of Oya. Cutting ties with places and institutions that no longer value what I have to offer, what I bring to the table.

My anger is the lightning strike of Oya. Striking out patterns of behavior that keep me stuck, spinning, silent, and separate from my unique path, separate from what is in alignment for me.
